My chosen career in leadership and team development is enormously satisfying because it energises people to maximise their effectiveness. The most rewarding feedback I receive is that I have helped group members’ achieve greater success in both their work life and their personal life. It is a huge thrill to see the light go on for people or have a ‘aha!’ moment during a workshop.
For me, leading in today’s organisations is about building relationships, partnering and gaining willing followers. It is no longer about using one’s position power or being ‘boss’ and I believe people will deliver discretionary effort or go ‘above and beyond’ for a leader they respect.
I am profoundly interested in understanding human nature and as a result I am continually engaged in many forms of personal development. I also hold accreditations in psychometric instruments such as The Myers Briggs Type Indicator, SLII- The Situational Leadership model, The ECI (Emotional Competence inventory-360 degree multi-rater tool), the Social Styles Model, Neuro Linguistic Programming and graduated from the University of Melbourne with my formal education in Training and Development.
Prior to this role I have worked for 13 years in large organisations like Westpac Banking Corporation and Ericsson in Australia. Today, I have built enduring relationships with my clients and consult to Mining, Defence, Media (Television), Finance, Petroleum, Gaming, Pharmaceutical and Health Care corporations. I have also gained much pleasure from my volunteer work with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, coaching them in job interview techniques and life skills.
I love group facilitation and feel very fortunate that my work takes me to the USA, Middle East and extensively throughout Asia. I live in Melbourne Australia and am passionate about making a difference, my family and friends, Australian Rules Football, fitness and travel.
